Launching the project “The Future of Bulgaria”
with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung
18.06.2011

The initiative The Future of Bulgaria, supported by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, was launched in June 2011, during a meeting with Mr. Boyko Borisov, Prime Minister of Bulgaria, and Dr. Marco Arndt, head of the office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Sofia.

Dr. Marco Arndt presented the work of his organization. The Foundation works with local political and non-governmental organizations, in dialogue with the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, in building and strengthening democracy in Bulgaria. The goal is the revival of civil society. “Only a stable and active civil society with a clear vision is able to build democracy,” he said. The restoration of democratic values and institutions is a difficult and slow process. Konrad-Adenauer works with its partners at a local level to accelerate and support this process. In this regard, the Foundation supports the initiative of Mr. Grentsebah in creating the Future Workshop and its project “The Future of Bulgaria.” Konrad-Adenauer relies on the work of young people in Bulgaria. “These are people who will one day build the future of Bulgaria,” he concluded.
